Colic |
Fly Spray |
If your horse is showing any of the following signs of Colic: kicking and/or biting at the abdomen, excessive rolling, not eating or drinking, and not passing stool, call your veterinarian immediately. Colic is the impaction of stool in the intestines and is a medical emergency for your pet. While Young Living Essential Oils makes an essential oil for fecal extraction called DiGize, we recommend that you contact your veterinarian. To help alleviate symptoms in the meantime, veterinarian Melissa Shelton, DVM recommends the recipe listed below. |
Flies are enough to drive any horse (and their rider) crazy, when flies bite, they are more than just a nuisance. An unexpectedly turn, buck or rear can seriously injure a rider. Fortunately, this danger can easily be averted by following a simple recipe for warding off flies and other biting bugs. |

Open Wounds |
Thrush |
Horses are curious by nature, literally and figuratively, putting their nose, and other body parts in places that they don't belong. This curiosity often times leads to unwanted cuts and scrapes. Depending upon the size of the scrape or sore, add a drop or two of Young Livings Thieves oil to the wound. Thieves will kill any bacteria in the opening, preventing infection and allowing the wound to heal more quickly and naturally. |
Thrush is a common disease among horses and it involves the hooves. Thrush is commonly caused by standing on ground with excess moisture, such as meadows, or low lying areas. To treat and prevent thrush from affecting your horse, apply a daily dose of Thieves to his or her hoof or hooves. Begin by scrape away surface tissue and then, directly applying Thieves to coat the hoof. Repeat application as necessary. |
